Met Éireann has officially declared a heatwave with four locations in Ireland matching the climatic criteria to merit the status.

"A heatwave occurs at a Met Éireann weather station when its daily maximum shaded air temperature is greater than 25°C for five or more consecutive days," said the post on X around 3.30 pm on Friday, September 8.
