Laois footballer's potential routes to Division 4 promotion

Division 4 is set to go down to the wire with five teams still in the mix for promotion and securing a place at Croke Park in the final.

For the Laois footballers, their loss on Sunday to Leitrim put a massive dent in their push for promotion with them now relying on results elsewhere as well doing the job on London in Ruislip on Sunday.

Sligo are currently top on 10 points, Leitrim, Laois, and Wicklow are on eight points, and Wexford on six points are still in with a mathematical chance too of finishing in the top two.placeholder image

If Sligo defeat or draw with Leitrim, Laois defeat London, and Wicklow defeat Waterford then Sligo and Wicklow will be promoted. That’s because Wicklow have already defeated Laois so would finish above them on the head to head rule.

A Sligo loss against Leitrim could squeeze them out of the promotion picture on scoring difference if Laois defeat London because currently their scoring difference is only two points better than that of Laois.

A win for Laois over London by more than a point followed with a win for Leitrim over Sligo, would mean that Leitrim and Laois are promoted as long as Wicklow don't defeat Waterford by a huge margin.

All the games throw-in at 1pm on Sunday March 26.
