Laois Gardai close busy Portlaoise road after Storm Bert damage

Laois Gardai have had to partially close a busy road in  Portlaoise which also acts as a bypass around town and serves O'Moore Park GAA grounds.

Portlaoise gardai were deployed to Fr Browne Avenue in Portlaoise soon after 1pm on Saturday, November 

Two garda vehicles were use to close the road at the railway crossing near the intersection with the Old Knockmay Road.

Gardai had to take action as a electricity cable hung just a few feet from the ground after an electricity pole had fallen beside the rail tracks at the intersection.

The crossing is located near Telfords and the Clonminham Business Park.

Gardai have contacted the ESB.
