Laois Offaly Gardai issue warning after thefts from cars

Laois Offaly Gardai issued advice to motorists following a number of thefts from vehicles in recent days.

Gardai said a number of cars were broken into last week in the Garda division.

“Some cars were parked in the person’s driveway. Various items stolen included money and tools. In some cases the vehicle was left unlocked,” gardai stated.

They warned motorists that opportunistic criminals will strike if given the chance. “Criminals look for an opportunity and an unlocked door is the easiest,” Gardai said.

“Don’t make it easy for them - Remove all valuables from your car when parked. Lock and use the vehicle alarm. Store keys away from the front door of your house to avoid key fishing. And report all suspicious persons or concerns,” Gardai added.
