The DPP has directed that a man should be tried over alleged threats to kill in Laois.

Michael Turner (33) of 12 Meadow Court, Kildare is alleged to have made threats to kill at a house at Carmody Way, Fairgreen, Portlaoise on May 12, 2017.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case should  proceed on indictment in relation to one count of threatening to kill.

“We are looking for four weeks for the book of evidence,” he told Judge Andrew Cody at the sitting of Portlaoise District Court.

Judge Cody remanded the accused in custody to appear again via videolink on June 24. He granted legal aid to solicitor Philip Meagher.
