Man left "bleeding from his mouth" following assault in shopping centre in Laois

A man was rushed to hospital following an assault at a shopping centre in Laois yesterday. 

Gardaí said the man, who was in his mid 30s, was assaulted at Laois Shopping Centre in Portlaoise at around 7.10pm. 

They said the man “suffered facial injuries” and was “bleeding from his mouth” following the assault. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. 

It’s understood shoppers came to the man’s aid and tried to use towels to stem the blood flow before the ambulance arrived.   

Investigating gardai said they are following a definite line of enquiry in relation to the assault.
