Revellers advised to fuel up before driving to the home of Electric Picnic in Laois

A Councillor in Stradbally is advising people who are driving to Electric Picnic to fuel up before they arrive.
Despite repeated calls for public EV(Electric Vehicle) chargers at the Laois town, Stradbally remains without public charging facilities for EV users.
While plans have been lodged for a new filling station in the town, Stradbally also has nowhere for people to refuel petrol or diesel cars.
Local Cllr Pachal McEvoy advised people to fuel up in Portlaoise or any of the larger surrounding towns before driving to the festival this weekend.
He said a Council engineer was working to identify locations for the EV chargers in Stradbally and he acknowledged that it has been a slow process.
“It is a work in progress but there is nothing. I imagine it will be there next year,” he said.
He expects the chargers to be in place for Electric Picnic 2027 and he said he would be raising the issue with the Council again.
In the meantime, he urged motorists to fuel up before they travel out to the Electric Picnic over the coming days.
