Stole deodorant from Portlaoise pharmacy

A probation report was ordered for a man who stole Hugo Boss deodorant from a pharmacy in Portlaoise.
Rory Harris, 46, of 3 Library Apartments, Shannon Street, Mountrath admitted the theft at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
He was accused of stealing the deodorant, valued at €16.95 from Hughes’ Pharmacy in Portlaoise on October 12, 2022. He also admitted being intoxicated and possessing €20 worth of cannabis at Railway Street in Portlaoise on January 27 last.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the accused has nine previous convictions.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said the man has had some tragedy in his life and there he had previously engaged with probation.
“He is trying to get his life back on track but he does need the assistance of services,” he told the court.
Judge Andrew Cody noted the man wasn’t work shy. He adjourned the matter to June 27 and ordered an updated probation and welfare report for that date.
