WATCH: Hearse arrives at Laois hotel where man was killed

A hearse has arrived at Ballyfin House Hotel following the death of a man there following what Gardaí say was a fatal assault.

Gardaí were alerted to an incident at the five-star hotel shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, November 12, after a man aged in his 60s was found deceased.

Another man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.

The Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist were called in.

A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) was been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Portlaoise Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) was also appointed.
