A woman who is accused of bringing heroin into Portlaoise Prison failed to have her case thrown out at Portlaoise District Court.

Patricia Doyle (35) with an address at 160 Clonmacnoise Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12 is accused of having heroin valued at €2,240 at Portlaoise Prison on August 26, 2023.

Judge Nicola Andrews asked what was the delay in getting directions from the DPP.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the file had just been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Counsel for the accused Paul Noctor BL said the case had been marked peremptory against the State at a previous sitting. He asked that it be struck out.

Judge Andrews said “it is being struck out on the next date if DPP’s directions are not available.”

She adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 10.
