Gardaí continue hunt for masked raider who threatened staff with knife in Longford town

Gardaí are continuing to look for clues into the circumstances behind an armed robbery at a shop in Longford town last week.
The incident took place at around 10am last Tuesday (August 15) when a masked male raider walked into a premises on Earl Street and threatened staff with a knife.
The Leader broke details of how the male assailant made off with a small number of items after unsuccessfully making a demand for cash.
Gardaí attended the scene a short time later and took statements from staff.
That prompted a garda public appeal as detectives continue to run the rule over CCTV in a bid to identify the identity of the armed robber.
“Gardaí are appealing to any persons or road users who were in or around Earl Street, Longford yesterday morning Tuesday 15th August, between 9.30a.m. and 10.15a.m. and who may have video/dash cam footage or anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to them,” said a garda spokesperson.
Anyone with information are asked to contact Longford Garda Station at 043 335 0570, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
