‘Introduction of more evidence would be blatantly unfair’ to two Longford women

New CCTV evidence has been introduced into the case of two women charged with affray
Two women charged with affray had their case adjourned until November at last week’s sitting of Longford District Court.
New CCTV evidence has been introduced into the case of Bernadette and Nicole Keenan.
23 year old Nicole Keenan has an address of 1 Richmond Street, Longford.
Bernadette Keenan (45) has an address of 82 Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford.
Both women are charged with affray and also intent to breach the peace, arising from an incident that occurred in Longford Shopping Centre on May 5, 2023.
The incident also involved two other women.
Judge Bernadette Owens adjourned the matter, with additional evidence, on CCTV, having been introduced by solicitor Frank Gearty.
The defendant’s solicitor, Ms Bríd Mimnagh, outlined that her clients were anxious to get the matter finalised.
“My clients are anxious that this matter does not drag on. A plea was entered and they are both very open about the incident. The introduction of more evidence would be blatantly unfair to my clients,” she stated.
“Circumstances are uneasy between all parties involved,” she added.
Addressing the matter, Judge Owens stated that, “the court didn’t create the unease. I am putting it back to November, if the video evidence is of public interest.”
Judge Owens also cautioned against “people posting inflammatory posts (on social media platforms).”
Judge Owens adjourned the case until November 12.
