Well wishes were extended to the popular councillor as he focuses on making a full recovery before returning to council duties

Many good wishes and warm tributes were paid to Councillor Mick Cahill at two recent council meetings, namely Longford County Council, and his local, the Ballymahon Municipal District.

The highly-respected Colehill councillor has been absent from the chamber as a result of an injury sustained during an accident last month.

As Cllr Cahill focuses on making a full recovery before returning to council duties, his colleagues wished him a speedy return to health.

Speaking following the meeting of Ballymahon MD where well wishes were paid to Cllr Cahill, the district Cathaoirleach, Cllr Martin Skelly said, “We just want to extend the unanimous good wishes of the Ballymahon municipality to our father figure, Cllr Mick Cahill. Mick has always helped each and everyone of us to find our feet when we do come onto the council (regardless of party) and we really hope that he will be back with us soon.

He added, “We send our best wishes to his family at this difficult time and guarantee the back up of all the members of the council at this time. We know that Mick is the most determined of people and he will be back looking after his constituents shortly.”

Cllr Pat O’Toole also sent his best wishes to Cllr Cahill for a speedy recovery as did Cllr Paul Ross who said there was huge support in the wider community and nationally for Cllr Cahill in his recovery. Cllr Ross added that he was being contacted “every day by constituents and colleagues who are enquiring for his recuperation and asking to pass on their well wishes to Mick and his family.”

"He is in all of our thoughts,” said Cllr Ross, “We’ve been kept informed of Mick’s recovery in the council and I’m personally looking forward to working with him again. I know he’ll be anxious to get back.”
