Popular Longford solicitors firm changes name but will 'uphold traditions and values'

The trusted and renowned EC Gearty & Co solicitors transitioned to Gearty Duffy LLP Solicitors on October 1, but clients and locals can expect the same high quality service they have always received.

​A launch was held recently in the Longford Arms Hotel on October 16 last to celebrate the new dawn for the popular firm.

EC Gearty & Co Solicitors have been providing legal services in County Longford and beyond since the late 1980s.

The company was founded by the late Enda Gearty, solicitor and the father of Frank Gearty, who became principal of EC Gearty & Co in 2001.

Esteemed solicitor ​Mr Frank Gearty retired from criminal and family court in Longford after 46 years of practice on Tuesday, October 13 last.

A huge number of tributes were paid to him by Judge Bernadette Owens, Gardaí and court staff on the day and he will continue to look after legal proceedings for Longford County Council.

Lorcan Gearty and Lisa Duffy are the new owners of the firm establishing Gearty Duffy LLP solicitors and they are supported by associate solicitor, Michelle Reynolds and Consultant Solicitor, Frank Gearty and six excellent support staff who have provided many years of service and loyalty to the firm some of whom have been working for the company in excess of 40 years.

The solicitors in the firm were all born and raised in County Longford which is a wonderful testament to the firm.

Lisa said “the firm is steeped in history” and clients often span multiple generations and she described it as a central part of the community.

"While it's a new name, over the door, everything will run the way it has always run on the ground.

"We are privileged to have excellent foundations to work on.

"We want to uphold the reputation, the traditions and the values that EC Gearty & Co has built up over the years and we will work very hard to make Gearty Duffy LLP as big a success as EC Gearty & Co has been," she added.

Lisa, the daughter of Bernard and Triona Duffy, said both her and her family are honoured that her name will be over the door.

"I'm beside myself, I'm so proud and so privileged to be given this opportunity alongside my partner, Lorcan Gearty.

"I'm just so thankful to Frank and indeed all the Gearty family for entrusting us with that role and then to be able to do it alongside Frank's son Lorcan is fantastic also."
