The young athlete was competing at the All-Ireland Schools’ Indoor Combined Championships in Athlone where Moyne CS had three athletes participating.
John came fourth in the Under 16 Championship and was selected to represent Ireland, Andrew Fitzpatrick took silver in the First Year Boys’ Championship, and El Nathan Okoh took silver in the Under 15 Boys’ Championship.
Said Moyne, “Well done to all three athletes on their outstanding performances. We look forward to cheering John on in the Irish vest!”
This is the latest in a string of successes for the young upcoming athlete.
Earlier this year, he was presented with the Individual AAI Juvenile Star Award Winner for County Longford.
The awards, which celebrated the exceptional achievements of juvenile athletes throughout the previous 2025 season, underlined “the remarkable depth and quality of emerging talent in Irish athletics across track, field, and cross country disciplines.”
