Pair appear in UK court following Longford stag party disturbance on Ryanair flight

Two men have been convicted and fined after appearing in an English court on Monday following a drink-fuelled incident onboard a Ryanair flight heading to Leeds Bradford Airport.
John Nevin (37) Camlin Meadows, Townspark, Longford and Shane Gilraine (29), Cattan, Mohill, Leitrim were on a flight from Dublin on June 23 when the incident broke out.
The pair were charged by West Yorkshire Police with being drunk in an aircraft and appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Monday.
The pair are understood to have become embroiled in the incident inflight ahead of a stag weekend in the north east of England.
They had to be escorted off the plane and in their appearance at court on Monday were fined.
Nevin was fined £300 and Gilraine, was fined £400.
It comes after the Leader broke details last month of how the pair were arrested and later charged by UK Police following the incident.
A Ryanair spokesperson said the pair became unruly after the flight had to initially be redirected to Leeds owing to a short-term runway closure at Newcastle Airport.
"This flight from Dublin to Newcastle was diverted to Leeds due to a temporary runway closure at Newcastle Airport," said the spokesperson.
"Two passengers became disruptive inflight, and crew called ahead for police assistance upon arrival to Leeds airport.
"The flight landed normally and was met by local police who removed these two passengers.
"The aircraft departed a short time later when the runway in Newcastle Airport was reopened."
