The national event, held at Microsoft's headquarters in Dublin, celebrated STEM learning, digital innovation and teamwork among primary school students from across Ireland.

Following the success of the Longford Microsoft Dream Space Showcase in March, five schools from the county travelled to the national finals, where they presented 30 student-led projects showcasing innovative ideas and real-world solutions.

The national schools representing Longford were, Scoil Eimear NS, Longford, Colehill NS, Colehill, St Teresa's NS, Killoe, St Joseph's NS, Longford, and St Mary's NS, Edgeworthstown.

Designed to inspire the next generation of innovators, the Microsoft Dream Space Showcase encourages pupils to identify real-world challenges and use technology, creativity and critical thinking to develop solutions.

"Congratulations to all the primary school children from County Longford who took part in this recent Microsoft Dream Space Showcase. This innovative programme led by Longford County Council is helping to create the leaders and innovators of our future. Deputy Chief Executive of Longford County Council John Brannigan said the initiative had helped position Longford as a national leader in educational innovation.

"Longford County Council's commitment to pioneering STEAM education has created something unique. We're not just preparing students for future careers; we're also helping to create problem-solvers who can contribute to society. The council's leadership in this space has positioned Longford as a shining example for educational innovation across Ireland."

While the projects showcased impressive STEM learning, the experience extended far beyond the classroom.

Students spent months developing their ideas, strengthening skills in teamwork, communication and problem-solving. The showcase allowed students to confidently present their work to judges and visitors, as well as answer questions and explain their ideas in a professional setting.

The event also enabled pupils to connect with students from across Ireland, exchange ideas and learn from projects developed by their peers.
