Fundraiser for Longford Hospice Homecare has raised almost €50,000 over the last two years

The organisers of the hugely successful Cian Gray All Vehicle Memorial Run are completing preparation to follow on the success of last year's fundraiser as they stage the event for the third time.

The vehicle run is organised in memory of Cian Gray.

Cian from Ballyduffy, Moyne on the Longford / Leitrim border passed away in 2021 after a long battle with illness.

“We’re trying to spread the word and get an even bigger crowd this year to raise funds for Longford Hospice Homecare. Longford Hospice Homecare helped Cian and his family so much during his illness,” Clare Scott, one of the volunteers who arrange the event, told the Leader.

Last year the organisers were overwhelmed by the support they received. This year they have altered the route: “There is a slight change to the route of the run this year with it heading from Dromard onto Ballinamuck, into Drumlish, over to Colmcille, into Arvagh and back out to Dromard.”

The Run takes place in Dromard on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday: “After raising almost €50,000 over the last two years, we’re trying to spread the word and get a big crowd again.

All the funds raised go to Longford Hospice Care who helped Cian and his family so much during his illness.”

The run will incorporate entries from tractors, trucks, cars and motorbikes on the day.

Registration starts at Dromard GAA Grounds from 10am and the run will depart at 1pm sharp.

Clare says the organisers hope that the support they have received over the last two years will continue: “It has always been a great days fun whether you are in a vehicle or not.

“We will have music and refreshments as the day goes on and the big raffle with over 50 prizes once all vehicles have returned.”

The registration fee is €20. Raffles and refreshments takes place at the clubhouse after the run with lots of great prizes. All vehicles must be road worthy, with up to date tax, insurance, and the appropriate test certification.
