Safety concerns prompt emergency closure of north Longford bridge

Safety concerns have prompted the emergency closure of a deteriorating north Longford bridge.

Longford County Council has made an immediate order to close the bridge at Fostragh; the L-10361 between it’s junction with the L-5081 Glenmore to Molly Road and its junction with the L-10391 in Fostragh.

The Council says this closure is necessitated by concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the bridge.

Access will be maintained as far as the bridge and local diversions will be sign posted.

The closure is for 24 hours daily and presently, there is no scheduled reopening date.
