Two police property applications before Longford District Court

Two police property applications before Longford District Court will be dealt with in November.
Superintendent Seamus Boyle made an application under the police property act for the forfeiture of cash to the value of €2,355.
Sergeant Conor McShane told the court that the money was seized in the course of a garda investigation into drug trafficking.
The named party in the application, Marcin Rodziewicz, was not in court for the application, however solicitor Brid Mimnagh said it was her understanding that Mr Rodziewicz had explained to the investigating Garda that the money was in his possession after the sale of a car.
Sergeant Conor McShane requested that the money be forfeited to the State and suggested it could be donated to Longford Tidy Towns group or wherever the court sees fit.
Judge Bernadette Owens said she would adjourn the matter to November 7, to allow Gardaí make inquiries regarding the source of the cash.
A similar application by Superintendent Boyle for the forfeiture of cash to the value of €2,645 seized from Brian Mulvaney was also on the court list.
Solicitor Mr John Quinn asked if the matter could be put back to November 7 to allow for a consultation with his client.
Judge Owens acceded to Mr Quinn's request.
