Upcoming event: Archery arrows set to fly in North Longford
Archery Ireland’s National Outdoor Target Championships 2026 will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.
Top archers from across the country will descend on County Longford this weekend as the Archery Ireland National Outdoor Target Championships 2026 officially take place on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.
The prestigious national tournament is being proudly hosted by the Wolfshead Company of Archers at their dedicated facilities at the Wolfshead Archery Academy in Higginstown, Granard.
As the premier outdoor target event in the Archery Ireland calendar, the weekend-long competition will showcase elite sportsmanship across multiple bow disciplines, including Recurve, Compound, and Barebow divisions.
Competitors will go head-to-head in challenging outdoor conditions, testing their precision, focus, and nerve to claim the coveted title of National Champion.
The selection of Granard as the battleground for the national titles reinforces Longford’s growing reputation as a hub for niche and outdoor sports infrastructure.
Wolfshead Company of Archers were formed in March of 2021, at which point the club was based at the Knights & Conquests centre. The club is affiliated to Archery Ireland.
The event is expected to draw significant numbers of competitors, coaches, and spectators, providing a welcome economic boost to local businesses, hospitality providers, and tourism landmarks like the nearby Knights & Conquests Heritage Centre.
Spectators are highly encouraged to attend across both days to witness the drama of the elimination rounds and the crowning of Ireland's top target archers.
Action on the field begins early on Saturday, September 12.
