The warning is set to come into effect tomorrow at midday and will remain in place until Friday 26.

With Longford set to experience an exceptionally warm spell this week, locals are being advised to prepare for potentially uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress, particularly among vulnerable groups.

The exceptionally hot weather is also expected to bring with it an element of instability later in the week, with thunderstorms likely to occur on Thursday.

Daytime highs are also expected to climb above 25°C across the county.

The public is being urged to take precautions during the period of high temperatures, including staying hydrated, limiting exposure during peak heat, and being mindful around open water.
