BIRR'S Ciorcal Comhrá (Irish Language Conversation Circle) are enjoying a winter catch-up.

Meeting Saturdays (Dé Sathairn) from 11am-1pm in the leabharlann/library (thank you Birr Library Services for facilitating this), they get together and informally chat in Irish. Most of them are learners, so they are all helping each other but all levels of ability are welcome, from beginner to expert!

Alongside their regular Gaeilgeoirí, they are delighted to report that they have welcomed this session, a number of new attendees. So, if you are someone who has thought about re-engaging with the Irish language and would like to practice your cúpla focal (it doesn’t matter how few focal you think you have!) be assured that a warm welcome/fáilte croíúil awaits you. Or maybe you might prefer to come and sit in and just listen for a bit, that too is absolutely fine, they would be thrilled to have you. There is no pressure to stay for the full session, attendees are welcome to come and go as their own schedule dictates.

Biorra le Gaeilge and Birr’s Ciorcal Comhrá are trying to build on the great love of Irish that is alive in the local Community. We all have a bit of the teanga/language stored somewhere! We are also so fortunate in Birr that families and their children have a choice to attend immersive Irish language education through the Pre-school/ Naíonra at Nóiníní Beaga and then progression onto the bunscoil/gaelscoil at Gaelscoil na Laochra. Currently, the children/na daltaí from Nóiníní Beaga and Gaelscoil na Laochra are busy preparing for and so much looking forward to their combined Christmas concert/Ceolchoirm Nollag on December 15th next. Tá an chuma air go mbeidh sé ina lá mór. That is shaping up to be a great day. Go n’éirí libh/Good luck!

There is one more catch-up left on December 3rd (an 3u Nollag) in this Ciorcal session and if you can’t make it but would like to attend another time please keep a watch out for notices on the Birr notes of the Midland Tribune, the Biorra le Gaeilge facebook page (like them/is maith liom), the social media accounts of Birr Library and the Birr Community Digest facebook page. Bígí Linn agus bí ag caint!
