Four-year ban for man who drove two different cars without insurance in three days

Fines of €1,800 imposed on motorist for offences near Offaly border
A MAN was caught driving two different cars without insurance in three days, Tullamore District Court heard.
Garda Marius Stones said that the vehicles being driven by Radomyr Kalmykov (29) were seized on both occasions.
“He was on his way back from Hamills (motoring services company) trying the get the first car out when he was stopped the second time,” Garda Stones told Judge Andrew Cody.
The garda outlined how he first stopped Mr Kalmykov, with an address at Mount Vista, Retreat Road, Athlone on the M6 at Rathgarret, Co Westmeath on June 18 last year.
The driver subsequently failed to produce insurance covering him to drive the vehicle, which had a 2010 Tipperary South registration.
Garda Stones said the man was not long in Ireland and had no previous convictions.
Then on June 20, 2024 when he was operating a checkpoint on the N52 at Ballykilmore, Co Westmeath, he stopped a Mazda with a 2006 Cork registration and Mr Kalmykov was again the driver.
The motorist was summonsed for insurance and NCT offences but was not in court yesterday (Wednesday, January 16) when Garda Stones prosecuted him.
Judge Cody imposed two fines of €750, one each for driving without insurance on the two different days, plus another fine of €300 for failing to produce an NCT certificate for the vehicle used on June 20.
He also disqualified Mr Kalmykov from driving for four years.
