‘Essays From Roscrea’ will be launched by John Lupton, Chairman of Roscrea Community Development Council

The new book ‘Essays from Roscrea’ by George Cunningham will be officially launched at a special gathering in Roscrea.

The launch will be held in Ryan's Bar (The Auburn Lounge) on the Templemore Road in Roscrea (E53 X990) on Thursday, October 1st at 8pm.

Essays From Roscrea will be launched by John Lupton. Chairman of Roscrea Community Development Council.

Sponsors and patrons can collect their copies on the night and other copies will be for sale at a special reduced launch price.

This volume, Essays From Roscrea, is, hopefully, the first in a series of Roscrea Record Memoirs, published by Parkmore Press for Roscrea People. Further volumes will deal with: Book Notes and Bibliophilia; Tree Notes and Travels; Public Service at the University of Limerick, 1992-2009; Roscrea Heritage Memoir, 1969-2017.

The Story of Monaincha, to be published early in 2027 will be a stand-alone monograph and any profit arising from this publication will go towards the publication costs of the Monaincha volume.

The essays bring together texts of unpublished articles or published ones in private, local and limited editions with small print numbers spanning almost a half century of writing.

Mostly they cover the counties of Tipperary, Offaly and the Burren of County Clare.

They deal with a wide variety of topics including all periods of history, landscape, natural history, education, local studies, art, The Burren, heritage tourism, biography and autobiography.

The snippets of autobiography embrace the influences that some Roscrea institutions had on the author’s life and they also give credit to some of the people that have enriched it.

Essays From Roscrea will be published in a limited edition of 250 hardback copies; the first copies will be signed and numbered and will be available only to sponsors and patrons.
