The man was charged with intoxication in a public place and engaging  in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour

A DEFENDANT appeared before last week's sitting of Tullamore Court charged with a couple of public order offences.

Regimantas Kiselius, 4 Arden Road, Tullamore, was charged with intoxication in a public place and engaging  in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. The incident happened on October 8 on Church Street, Tullamore.

The court was told that when the Gardaí interacted with Mr Kiselius they found he was very intoxicated and arrested him for his own safety.

The defending solicitor said his client had been trying to break up a fight between two men outside a pub just before the Gardai arrived.

The court was told that Mr Kiselius had come to the Gardai's attention on a number of occasions on a number of different dates.

Judge Cody commented that it was plain that Mr Kiselius was “becoming a nuisance to the Garda. If you continue to make a nuisance of yourself then you will go to jail.”

The Judge convicted and fined €500.
