Met Eireann has update its Weather Warnings for Ireland as Storm Noa is set to bring very strong winds and heavy downpours today.
While Met Eireann did not name the storm, it has now been named by the French Met Office.
A Status Yellow Wind warning for Munster, Connacht, Donegal, Offaly, Laois, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin has been issued and is in effect. It remains in place until 8pm this evening.
It warns that very strong west to northwest winds will develop with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h expected. These will be stronger in coastal areas and over high ground.
A Status Orange Storm warning from Carnsore Point to Valentia to Bloody Foreland remains in place until 4pm.
In its weather forecast for today, Met Eireann says it will be very windy with strong to gale force northwesterly winds gradually developing countrywide and some severe or damaging gusts possible. Outbreaks of rain will extend eastwards across the country with local downpours and the chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. Later this evening, it will brighten up from the west with clear spells and just isolated showers following. Maximum temperatures of just 6 to 11 degrees, staying coolest in the north, with winds easing from the southwest through the evening.
