Offaly powerlifter represents Ireland at IPF World Championships
Ireland’s rising star in the women’s 63kg class, Catherine Kilmartin, competed last week, the 11th of June at the 2025 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships held at Chemnitz’s Richard Hartmann Halle.
This was the Kilcormac woman's third international competition, having previously represented Ireland at Western Europeans in Iceland and at European Championships in Croatia.
On the day, she showcased great resolve completing all three lifts (Squat, Bench Press, & Deadlift) to the highest standard, and on the biggest stage. She increased her Total Personal Best (PB) to 442.5kg whilst equalling her own Irish National Record in Deadlift (210kg). This final lift placed her in 5th place overall for that individual discipline.
The weight class was eventually won by the Swedish entrant, Alba Bostrom.
The Offaly native will now set her sights on the National Championships to be held in Dublin this November.
