A MAN whose late father was cared for at Tullamore Hospital is raising funds for the oncology unit there.

Paddy Keane, a 64-year-old from Errill, Co Laois, passed away on July 21 last after a two-year battle with stomach cancer.

His son Francis had been scheduled to run the Dublin City Marathon in October prior to Paddy's untimely passing and he has now decided to use it as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Regional Hospital Tullamore.

“The staff in the hospital were amazing and the nurses couldn't have done a better job making him comfortable and looking after him,” said Francis.

Paddy had attended at Tullamore for a few years: “The care was really great there.”

A gofundme account (https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-my-dad-paddy-keane) has been set up to allow people to make donations and in a message on the page, Francis says of his father: “We loved him so much, and he loved us. Miss you loads”.

Paddy is mourned by his wife Mary, daughter Claudette and son-in-law Josh, son Francis and partner Shauna, his brothers Timmy and Johnny, and sisters Mag, Aggie and Martina, along with mother-in-law Margaret, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Paddy is pictured on the gofundme page with his daughter Claudette on her wedding day in 2018.
