RESIDENTS of Kilbride Park in Tullamore are fed up and disgusted with the behaviour of some people who have moved into the car park in camper vans.

That's according to Councillor Sean O'Brien who said there are now two camper vans in the area.

Speaking at the October meeting of the Tullamore Municipal District, Cllr O'Brien said, ''the residents of Clontarf road say there is screaming and shouting and it's going on till 2, 3 and 4 in the morning. People are disgusted, this was a lovely car park and a lovely area, it's now being taken over. There are extra people coming there, we have to do something about it, the residents are fed up,'' he said.

Senior Executive Engineer, John Connelly said, ''I spoke to that person, the second caravan is there for quite a while as well. Notices have been ignored. I have spoken to the Gardai and the Gardai have spoken to them as well. They are not on the housing waiting list,'' said Mr Connelly, who added that ''at this stage'' they may be prosecuted.

There are also two men living in a tent in the park. One resident of Kilbride Park said they are quiet but they drink all day. The resident was also concerned at how dark the area is at night as there are a number of lights out of action.

The man said a tree fell down on a light during the stormy weather knocking the globe off the top and it has not been fixed. He fears that more trees may fall. He was also concerned that a tree could fall down on the men in the tents.

A damaged tent was discarded in the area too and there are empty bottles also being thrown away.
