A SUSPENDED sentence was imposed on a woman who pleaded guilty for a fourth time to shoplifting.

Judge Andrew Cody warned mother of two Nikita Mulpeter (29), The Glen, Kilnacourt Woods, Portarlington, Co Laois, that Tullamore District Court would have “had enough” if she received another conviction in the next two years.

He imposed a three-month suspended sentence on Ms Mulpeter after she admitted theft at Tesco, Cloncollig, Tullamore on January 31 last year.

The court was told that €62 worth of items were stolen but some of the goods had been recovered.

Judge Cody heard Ms Mulpeter had been given the Probation Act twice previously and had also been fined €250 for another offence.

The woman's solicitor, Patrick Martin, said the latest offence dated back to January of last year and her other convictions were around the same time.

Mr Martin added that his client was now attending hospital and getting tests done.
