Eight charged as suspected gang feud investigations continue

Eight people have been charged in the past week as investigations continue into incidents police believe are linked to a suspected gang feud.
Police said that on Wednesday a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were arrested and charged in connection with five incidents of alleged attempted murder and one of alleged culpable and reckless fire-raising.
The arrests come after a series of fire-raisings across the Glasgow area in recent weeks.
On Thursday, officers executed warrants at two properties in South Queensferry where firearms were seized from both addresses.
Two men, aged 36 and 38, have been arrested and charged in connection with alleged firearms offences.
The four will appear in court in due course.
There have also been four other arrests across the country in recent days, bringing the total number of arrests in connection with the investigation to 20.
A dedicated team from the police Specialist Crime Division is working alongside divisional officers to gather hundreds of pieces of evidence as investigations continue.
Police are checking 3,000 hours of CCTV footage and said 12 stolen vehicles have been recovered.
Detective Chief Superintendent David Ferry said: “The arrests over the past week highlight the ongoing work that officers have been doing to target those responsible for these attacks.
“While we believe these incidents are linked to rival groups who are targeting each other, I want to make it clear this violence will not be tolerated.
“As well as carrying out these days of action and disruption activities, there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, including exploring forensic opportunities and analysis of digital devices.
“While this may not be as visible, please be assured we are working tirelessly to build cases and are following a number of significant lines of inquiry.
“We have had a good response to our appeals and I want to thank the public for their help and information so far.”
