Scottish Green Party co-leader Patrick Harvie will spend a few weeks away from Holyrood due to a medical procedure.

The party has announced Mr Harvie, who is a Glasgow region MSP, is undergoing an unspecified procedure which has a recovery time of six weeks.

The Greens said he may work remotely for a period before returning to Parliament.

Along with fellow co-leader Lorna Slater, Mr Harvie was a minister in the Scottish Government until last year when the powersharing deal with the SNP was brought to an end.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Greens said: “Everyone at the Scottish Greens wishes Patrick well and hopes that he has a fast and full recovery.

“Patrick’s regional office will continue to work on behalf of his constituents and portfolios will be shared among his MSP colleagues. We look forward to welcoming him back to Parliament in the months ahead.”
