Man, 61, dies after one-car crash in North Lanarkshire

A man has died following a one-car crash in North Lanarkshire.

The incident happened on the B7066 Carfin Road, between the junctions of Whittagreen Crescent and Whittagreen Avenue in Carfin, at about 9.35am on Sunday.

Police Scotland said the 61-year-old driver was taken to University Hospital Wishaw where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers are appealing for information about the crash, which involved a Renault Captur.

Sergeant Adnan Alam, of the road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“Our inquiries are under way and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash, to get in touch.”

The road was closed for about five hours and 20 minutes for investigations following the incident.
