RTE viewers left heartbroken by Tommy Tiernan Show moment as chat show returns
Viewers of RTE's hugely popular Tommy Tiernan Show were left heartbroken and moved by one moment during the first episode in the latest series.
The novel chat show returned to RTE One on Saturday night with Irvine Welsh, Pete Doherty and Aedín Ní Thiarnaigh with music by Sounds from a Safe Harbour featuring OPIA and Dermot Kennedy.
Fans lapped up the interviews on the show, particularly Tommy's honest chat with former Libertines frontman Doherty, but it was the musical performance on the night that tugged at peoples' heartstrings.
Saturday night's musical guests were Sounds from a Safe Harbour with OPIA, performing "We Didn't Know We Were Ready" as a tribute to Eoin French, the man behind musical act Talos who died at the age of 37 last year.
"Jesus. This is just stunning," one person wrote of the atmospheric and emotional performance from a group of musicians and friends of Eoin, including chart-topping star Dermot Kennedy who joined the chorus.
