Man charged with theft of almost £10,000 from local bookmakers shop

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with the theft of almost £10,000 from a bookmakers shop.

Daniel Cassidy (30) of Ferguson Street in Derry appeared charged with the theft of £9,500 from Claudy Bookmakers on December 19 2023.

He was also charged with abuse of position on the same date in that he took money from Sean Graham's bookmakers that he was meant to safeguard.

He was connected to the charges by a police officer.

The court was told that a full file would be available in four weeks and the case was adjourned until March 20.
