Thomas Fenlon -

The death took place on Monday, August 12 of Thomas (Tom) Fenlon, Woodlawn, Portlaoise, Laois / Emo, Laois

Formerly of New Inn, Emo, County Laois. Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Susan, daughters Maria and Teresa, sons, John, Joe and Brian, son-in-law Brian, daughters-in-law Joyce, Breda and Helen, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. ​​​​​​

Reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Tuesday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning at 11:20am arriving St Paul's Church, Emo for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to The New Cemetery, Emo.

The family would like to thank most sincerely the staff of the Residence Nursing Home, Portlaoise and The Regional Hospital Portlaoise for the way they cared for Tom during his stay with them.

Joseph Ellis - Rathdowney

The death took place on Sunday, August 11 of Joseph (Joe) Ellis, Clonmeen South, Rathdowney, Co. Laois.

Peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents and brothers.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife Mary, son Paul, daughter-in-law Bernadette, grandchildren Tommy-Joe, Lauren and Gavin, great grandchild Jamie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Rest In Peace

Reposing at O'Sullivan's funeral home Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Wednesday evening from 5 o'clock concluding with prayers at 7 o'clock. Removal on Thursday morning at 11.15 to The Island Crematorium Ringaskiddy Co. Cork arriving for funeral service at 2 pm.

No flowers please. Donations if desired to The palliative Care team c/o Laois Hospice.

Elizabeth Callaghan - Rosenallis

The death took place on Sunday, August 11 of Elizabeth (Betty) Callaghan (nee Hinch), Reary, Rosenallis, Co. Laois.

Passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Larry and her brother John. Beloved mother of John, Larry, Eugene, Pat, Greg, Mark, Declan, David, Marie, Ann, Patricia and Noeleen. Betty will be sadly missed by her heartbroken children, her 28 adoring grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister Peg, brothers Fint and Pat, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at her home, on Tuesday from 2pm with Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St. Brigid’s Church, Rosenallis, with burial afterwards in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Rosenallis. Betty’s family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support at this difficult time.

Elizabeth Walsh - Errill

The death took place on Friday, August 9 of Elizabeth (Betty) Walsh (née Doran), Walsh's shop, Errill village, Laois. 

Peacefully in the loving care of management and staff at St Teresa’s nursing home Thurles surrounded by her family.

Predeceased by her parents, husband Brendan and brother Ted.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, daughters Aisling and Nicola, son-in-law Paul, grandchildren Brenna, Cillian and Rosa, Brendan's son Adrian, his wife Sandra and their children Alexander and Alison, sisters Mary and Kathleen, brother Jim, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposed at O'Sullivans funeral home Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Sunday evening from 5 o'clock pausing for prayers at 7 o'clock. Removal on Monday morning to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church, Errill, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11 o'clock. Interment afterwards in Bealady Cemetery.

Robert Bowe- Ballinakill / Portlaoise

The death took place on Thursday, August 8 of Robert Bowe, Ironmills, Ballinakill, Laois / Portlaoise, Laois

Robert died suddenly at his residence. Formerly of Marian Avenue, Portlaoise. Employee of Irish Rail. Predeceased by his father Kevin. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Jean, daughters Kayleigh and Rhona, mother Marie, brothers Kevin, Paul and Kenneth, sisters Suzanne and Sandra, uncles, aunts, mother in law, father in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposed at his residence from 4oc on Saturday until 8oc. Reposing on Sunday from 3oc with Rosary at 8oc. Funeral Mass was on Monday at 12oc in St. Brigid's Church, Ballinakill. Burial afterwards in St.Brigid's Cemetery Ballinakill. 

Bernard Cawley - Mountmellick

The death took place on Thursday, August 8 of Bernard Cawley, Derrycloney, Mountmellick. Suddenly at his residence. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Anne, sons Bernard, James, Michael, Phillip, Patrick and Tony, daughters MaryEllen, Teresa, Annmarie and Sharon, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposed at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Sunday afternoon from 2:30pm until 4:30pm. Removal afterwards (travelling via his residence and O 'Moore Street) arriving St Joseph's Church, Mountmellick at 6pm. Requiem Mass was on Monday at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Joseph's Cemetery, Mountmellick.
