A near hidden Laois musical talent is about to release her first track.
June Kirwan, simply to be known as June, hails from the Ballyroan Abbeyleix area.
In her spare time she writes her own songs and also plays instruments, and has performed her work in public. Now she is taking the big step to launch her own original music to the world.
Her first track is called Up and it will be launched on platforms Friday, June 27.
She spoke to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"I think of songs and I write and sing them and now I want to get them out there. It's been a hobby at weekends. My songs span between alternative folk, pop and dance music with Irish traditional singing influences," she said.
She is inspired by an eclectic range of artists including Clannad and Sia.

“Up” is an intimate upbeat track with flavors of modern pop and emotional nostalgia. Driving drums combined with a sentimental piano create a contrasting atmosphere where a listener can sweep themselves into the ups and downs of a relationship. Swelling synths at the choruses create a rising feeling that allows a darker chord progression to feel both hopeful and bleak."
Talented June plays piano (Grade 7 RIAM Piano Exams) and is currently learning guitar.
The Laois native previously lived in Liverpool, where she performed 10 original songs at the Panache music festival in Hoylake, Liverpool and also performed at a “Beatles Day” in Albert Dock, Liverpool, covering a number of songs by The Beatles.
