Up to five roads in the Ballinamore Municipal District are expected to be improved under the Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) this year.
Cllr Enda McGloin requested that Ballinamore MD review the recent CIS allocation of €450,000 for Leitrim and discuss the scope of works possible for the district in 2025.
While €450,000 was initially announced for Leitrim under the scheme, the final countywide allocation stands at €375,650.
Of this, Ballinamore MD has been granted €131,478 to carry out improvements on local public cul-de-sacs.
The Roads department confirmed that Ballinamore MD has compiled a list of interested communities seeking CIS funding, which has now been reviewed following the recent allocation confirmation.
“It is anticipated that we will be able to complete up to 5 schemes in the current year
in the Ballinamore MD, subject to payment of local contributions,” the response stated.
The CIS, funded by the Department of Transport, promotes a partnership between local authorities and residents or landowners to restore and improve public roads.
