Tributes have been paid following the passing of a Leitrim man described as “a lovely gentleman,” who died on December 31.
Pete Thompson, of Tawlaught, Mohill, passed away peacefully while in the devoted care of the nurses and staff at Áras Carolan Nursing Home in Mohill.
Pete will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Mary (McCrann), his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his extended family, neighbours and many friends.
Messages of condolence have been shared on RIP.ie in remembrance of Pete.

One tribute reflected warmly on his kindness and generosity, stating, “Pete was a lovely man, always so kind to Mum and Dad with any plumbing issue. Loved a cup of tea and chat! Thinking of Pete's family at this sad time,” recalling his friendly nature and willingness to help others.
Another condolence described Pete as “always a reliable tradesman and friend.”
Pete reposed at his home on Friday, January 2, and a private cremation took place on Saturday, January 3.
Further messages expressed sympathy for his family, with one reading, “Rest in Eternal Peace Pete. You Were a Gentleman,” while another said, “Our Sincere Sympathy to Mary and family on the passing of Pete. A lovely gentleman. May he RIP.”
