Louth volunteers to be recognised during Youth Work Ireland Week

Louth volunteers to be recognised during Youth Work Ireland Week

Youth Work Ireland Louth are celebrating and thanking local volunteers who make such an important contribution to youth services locally.

During Youth Work Ireland Week which runs from April 1st – April 8th Louth youth groups will be taking part in activities and events to recognise and thank them for their time and dedication.

Youth Work Ireland Week is a national campaign that takes place every year across youth services to celebrate the value of youth work to local communities across Ireland.

Volunteers at Youth Work Ireland Louth will be celebrating along with young people and youth workers to mark the occasion.

There are many events planned throughout County Louth such as;

  • Designing a wall dedicated to volunteers and their contribution which is vital to our youth service.
  • A Volunteer morning,
  • Community Social action programmes
  • Delivery of Volunteer leadership training
  • Hosting the Launch of Volunteer Training Pack for all youth services to use.

A spokesperson for the group said:

“Without volunteers, Youth Work Ireland Louth and our youth clubs would not be able to carry out this essential job.

“We have always acknowledged and valued the important contribution that volunteers make to the health and happiness of the young people in our youth clubs.

“People can learn new skills, meet others who share their interests, and give back to their community through volunteering. Whatever their motivation, these incredible people have chosen to sacrifice time from their hectic schedules to help the youth services in their community.

“Hence, in 2023, we will honour and celebrate our unsung local heroes—our volunteers—during Youth Work Ireland Week!

“We may accomplish this in a variety of ways, both large and small, but the ideal method will be to make our volunteers feel special and let them know the difference they make in the lives of young people by giving up their time each week to support youth clubs.”

For many youth clubs, the week will be a chance to showcase the range of volunteering opportunities on offer, hear from volunteers on the personal impact volunteering has had and encouraged people to try volunteering for the first time.

Through volunteering, they can make a difference to young people and their local communities.

Local youth services across the Youth Work Ireland Federation will also be holding events to thank their volunteers and celebrate the power and impact of volunteering.
