A motorist caught speeding at 161km/h on the M1 had their vehicle seized after it was discovered they were driving on a provisional licence and without a qualified accompanying driver.

The incident occurred when members of the Drogheda Roads Policing Unit stopped the vehicle, which was travelling well in excess of the motorway speed limit.

Louth Gardaí shared details of the incident on social media, stating that proceedings are to follow.
