Ireland AM presenter Síomha Ní Ruairc has delighted fans by revealing she's pregnant with her first child with husband Cathal Pendred.

The Virgin Media star took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the heartwarming news, posting a simple but sweet message in Irish: "Leanbh nua ag teacht ar an saol mí Eanáir 2026," meaning "a new baby is coming into the world in January."

The announcement sparked an outpouring of love from friends, colleagues and followers, thrilled for the couple.

Her How To Gael podcast co-presenter Doireann Ní Ghlacáin commented: "Scéal iontach," while the third member of the hit podcast trio, Louise Cantillon, added a delighted: "Yeehow."

Síomha's Ireland AM colleague Katja Mia was among the first to congratulate the couple, writing: "Congratulations girl." Virgin Media news correspondent Richard Chambers also shared his excitement with: "Ack congratulations!" while influencer Ellie Kelly wished the pair the very best, saying: "Wishing yous the biggest congratulations.”

The TV presenter and her husband, a former UFC fighter turned actor, tied the knot in a glamorous ceremony at Lough Eske Castle in Donegal last summer, surrounded by family, friends and several well-known faces from Irish media and sport.

The couple later jetted off for an extended honeymoon, touring Thailand and Vietnam in what they described as a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Síomha has become a household name on Irish morning television, presenting on Ireland AM while also co-hosting the hugely popular How To Gael podcast, where she champions the Irish language with her co-presenters Doireann Ní Ghlacáin and Louise Cantillon.

This year has been a mix of joy and heartache for the 32-year-old presenter, who earlier this year shared a heartfelt tribute to her sister Úna following her sudden passing.

At the time, Síomha spoke about her family adjusting to a "new normal" without her beloved sister, receiving an outpouring of support from across the country.

The couple has yet to reveal whether they are expecting a boy or girl, but baby Ní Ruairc-Pendred will be arriving into a home filled with love, laughter and plenty of Gaeilge.
