A caravan and designer clothes were among the items seized as gardai carry out a number of searches targeting organised crime in the Midlands.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting organised criminal activity in County Westmeath, Gardaí searched three residential properties in Athlone and Kinnegad today.
The operation was led by local Gardaí supported by the Regional Armed Support Unit, Garda Dog unit, Criminal Assets Bureau, Garda Stolen Car Unit, Westmeath Divisional Drugs Unit and Athlone Detective Unit.
In the course of the searches, property and goods worth in the region of €100,000 were seized, including a caravan, an SUV, a trailer and a car, as well as a wide range of high-value designer clothing and footwear. €4,000 in cash was also seized.
Two males aged in their 40s and 20s have been arrested. Both are currently detained at a Garda Station in the Midlands under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007. They can be held for up to seven days.
