Police are appealing for witnesses and information following reports of vehicle tampering and thefts in Derry over the weekend.

Inspector Hewat said: “We received a report at around 5.15am this morning, Sunday, October 18 of males attempting to gain entry to vehicles in the Woodbrook area, with some vehicles also showing signs of having been rummaged through.

“Officers attended the scene and conducted extensive patrols in Woodbrook and the surrounding areas, however, no one was located.

“Further reports were then received this morning of three vehicle thefts which are believed to have occurred overnight in the city. A mobility vehicle and a quantity of cash was reported stolen from the Woodbrook area, while a car was stolen from the Victoria Gate area and another from the Parklands area of the city.

“We would like to remind everyone to always keep their vehicles and homes securely locked and to ensure that all valuables are kept out of sight.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious on Saturday night into Sunday morning and who has any information – including CCTV or ring-doorbell footage – to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 308 of 18/10/26, or to call us on 101.”
