Application made for an interim anti-stalking order against Derry man

Application made for an interim anti-stalking order
An application was made to Derry Magistrates’ Court for an interim anti-stalking order after a man was said to be engaging in behaviour that was seen as stalking and harassment.
The application involving Daryl O'Donnell of Belvedere Park in Derry was made after O'Donnell was reported to police for behaviour that was said to have begun in December 2024.
A restraining order is already in place until April 2028 but a non-molestation order has already expired.
The court heard that, since the restraining order was put in place, O'Donnell has allegedly made contact via social media.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that O'Donnell had been released from custody two weeks ago and had pleaded guilty to offences involving the same alleged injured party.
He said that the proposed terms of the anti-stalking order were 'excessive and disproportionate'.
District Judge Suzanne Rice granted the order under conditions including that O'Donnell not go near the alleged injured party's address or place of work and allow police access to his internet and social media use.
He will appear again for a review on August 10.
