Rose Marie Stokes (31) of Moss Park in Derry admitted a charge of assaulting police and one of disorderly behaviour on May 19

Derry Magistrate's Court heard today how when police went to arrest a man his partner slapped the officer's hand away.

Rose Marie Stokes (31) of Moss Park in Derry admitted a charge of assaulting police and one of disorderly behaviour on May 19.

The court was told police were called to a report of an ongoing disturbance at Collon Lane.

When police arrived they found two females, one if them being Stokes, 'shouting and being rowdy'.

The homeowner asked for them to be removed and police did so and the women remained outside the property 'shouting and roaring'.

Stokes then slapped an officer on the wrist and was eventually arrested.

Defence counsel Adam Laird said that all the parties involved had been drinking and an argument had taken place.

District Judge Ted Magill said Stokes got credit for her guilty plea and imposed a Conditional Discharge for a period of 18 months.
