County Derry man who 'went out of his way to breach his bail' remanded

Jordan Connolly (26) of Castle Oak, Castledawson appeared charged with breaching his bail conditions on March 12
A man who, 'went out of his way to breach his bail' has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Jordan Connolly (26) of Castle Oak, Castledawson appeared charged with breaching his bail conditions on March 12.
A police officer told the court that that Connolly's conditions were no contact with his other nor any alcohol or drugs.
The court heard that around 9.30pm the defendant, who had been bailed to an address in Antrim, walked into his mother's house in Castledawson and went into the kitchen. She immediately walked out of the house and called the police who arrived but found the door closed against them.
They eventually secured entry but the defendant had left by a rear door.
Shortly afterwards police were alerted that Connolly had returned to the address and he was arrested.
He was asked was he intoxicated and said to police 'do I look like I am sober?'
While in custody Connolly's behaviour was said to have deteriorated and he was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The court heard that it was 15 and a half hours later before he was fit to be interviewed.
The police officer said that they had 'major concerns' that the defendant would re-offend as he had travelled from Antrim to Castledawson in breach of his bail conditions.
A defence barrister said that Connolly had 'a difficult relationship with his mother'.
He said in this case Connolly had gone to the address because he heard his mother was unwell and was concerned about her.
District Judge Barney McElholm said that this was not 'a technical breach of bail'.
He said that the condition he reside in Antrim was to ensure he stayed far enough away.
Bail was revoked and Connolly remanded in custody to appear again on April 10.
