Craigavon man who came to Derry for Halloween charged with assaulting former partner

A man who came to Derry for the Halloween celebrations has appeared at the local Magistrate's Court today charged with assaulting his former partner.
Samuel Bingham (33) of Winona Crest, Donacloney, Craigavon appeared charged with assaulting a female with the offence aggravated by domestic abuse.
He was also charged with being disorderly in a local hotel, the Holiday Inn on the same date and possessing an offensive weapon namely a chair again on October 29.
Finally Bingham was charged with resisting police.
The court heard that Bingham was also in breach of bail by being in the company of the woman he is alleged to have assaulted despite being prohibited from doing so.
A police officer told the court that police were flagged down at 12.55am by the hotel manager due to a domestic altercation in the foyer.
The alleged victim was said to be 'highly agitated' and accused the defendant of 'pushing and shoving her around the bar.'
She claimed that Bingham had assaulted her in other bars in the city.
When police went to arrest Bingham he was said to have said to the woman 'you are getting me arrested, this is your fault.'
The defendant was then said to have lashed out at police and shouted obscenities.
Defence counsel Sinead Rogan said that Bingham had breached all of his bail conditions.
She said that the couple had decided to resume their relationship and came to the city for Halloween.
She said that the pair resided far enough away from each other and there was a domestic history between them.
The court heard that Bingham had 20 previous convictions.
District Judge Ted Magill said that the defendant had been given bail and then breached it.
He said that Bingham had been charged with harassment and now there was evidence of assault.
He refused bail and remanded Bingham in custody.
