Obituaries
The following deaths have occurred:-
Patrick (Patsy) Hume, 6 Iona Park, Derry
The death has occurred of Patrick (Patsy) Hume, 12th March 2023, (peacefully) at home, beloved husband of the late Bridget, 6 Iona Park, loving father of Paul, Brenda, Fiona, Ursula, Una and Seana, father-in-law of Maria, Tommy, John, David, Ray and Brendan, a devoted grandfather and dear brother of Jim and the late John, Annie, Harry, Agnes and his twin Sally. Paddy’s wake will commence in his home on Monday at 1.00pm. Funeral from there on Wednesday at 9.30am for 10o’clock Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Longtower. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Family time please from 9.00pm to 11.00am. The Mass can be viewed live via the church webcam. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to DEEDS, C/o The Old Library Trust, Central Drive, Creggan, Derry, BT48 9QG. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
Anthony Joseph (Tony) Johnston, Canada
The death has taken place of Anthony Joseph (Tony) Johnston, (peacefully) at Windsor Regional Hospital, Canada, beloved son of the late Joseph and Annabella, much loved brother of the late Brídín, Hugo and Gabrielle. Deeply missed by his niece Sr. Ethna and nephew Michael, his wife Miriam and daughter Annabella, and the wider family circle, Jane Bryans and her family, and his many friends in both Canada and Ireland. Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Windsor, on Thursday, 9th March. Tony’s remains will return to Ireland for subsequent interment with his parents in Derry City Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul or Foyle Hospice. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul. St. Joseph intercede for him.
Gerard Kelly, 111 Priory Road, Dungiven
We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Gerard Kelly, (peacefully) at Altnagelvin Hospital surrounded by his loving family on 11th March 2023. May he rest in peace. Late of 111 Priory Road, Dungiven, Co Derry BT47 4LR. Beloved husband of the late Mary R.I.P. Loving father of Sonia (Benny), Louise, Ashling (Cornelius), Paul , Barry (Julie), Colleen (Mark), David and Ursula (Stephen). A devoted grandfather and great grandfather. Dear brother of Patsy, Maureen, Christy and the late Carmel, Denis, Kevin, Colm, Ann, and infant Jimmy R.I.P. Deeply regretted by all his nieces and nephews and the entire family circle. Family time from 10.00pm to 11.00pm. Funeral on Tuesday, 14th March leaving his late home at 12.20pm for 1.00pm Requiem Mass in Saint Patrick’s Church Dungiven. Interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard. Our Lady queen of heaven pray for him.
